Swaledale man hospitalized after motorcycle versus deer accident

ambulanceRURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A Swaledale man was hurt when the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer early Tuesday morning.

On July 12th, 2016, at approximately 5:26 AM, the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office responded to Grouse Avenue and 170th Street (south of Clear Lake) for a motorcycle versus deer collision. The driver, 40-year-old Travis Highley of Swaledale, Iowa, was driving a 2007 black Yamaha XV1700A motorcycle northbound on Grouse Avenue when he struck a deer crossing the roadway from the west ditch.

Highley sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Mason City Ambulance.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department, Thornton EMT and Fire, Meservey EMT and Fire.
