MASON CITY – A wanted man was caught with drugs, taken to jail and released, only to find his way back to jail after another theft incident.

A Cerro Gordo deputy encountered 46-year-old David Michael Hurst of Mason City in Rock Falls on the evening of June 28, after 9 PM. Hurst was wanted on theft warrants. He was also found to be in possession of illegal substances and drug paraphernalia and arrested on a felony charge of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to jail and soon released.

Hurst found his way back to the county jail this weekend, as he is being held there on two new charges of third-degree theft.  He remains held in the jail on $2,000 bond.

Why do we let ppl like that off so easy? No wonder why our town is turning into a shit show

Nope the scumbag is not in jail according to the jail roster. Just another catch and release to do it all over again.

A misunderstood tweaker klepto.

He’s just misunderstood.

This guy has been ripping people off for over a decade. He must of went to prison for a bit, because I didn’t see him in the jail. You name it. Burglary, pick pocket, retail theft, altering receipts…… this guy doesn’t give a shit, and neither does the county attorney. The one one who cares is the victim left with no restitution. He never pays, and his plea bargains get him probation and suspended fines because he has no permanent address.

…this guy is an “automatic”…he “looks” the part of a bad guy!!!
