MASON CITY – A wanted man was caught with drugs, taken to jail and released, only to find his way back to jail after another theft incident.
A Cerro Gordo deputy encountered 46-year-old David Michael Hurst of Mason City in Rock Falls on the evening of June 28, after 9 PM. Hurst was wanted on theft warrants. He was also found to be in possession of illegal substances and drug paraphernalia and arrested on a felony charge of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to jail and soon released.
Hurst found his way back to the county jail this weekend, as he is being held there on two new charges of third-degree theft. He remains held in the jail on $2,000 bond.
