Man injured after three people ride ATV and it rolls over

ambulanceROCKWELL, IOWA – A man and two children were riding an ATV Saturday night outside Rockwell as it rolled over on its way up a steep hill.

The Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office says the accident took place around 8:30 PM July 2 near 130th Street and Olive Avenue, southwest of Rockwell.

Deputies responded to an ATV accident that occurred on private property northwest of 130th Street and Olive Avenue. Three persons, 40-year old Brian Fessler, 9-year-old Sharli Fessler and 12-year-old Ian Dorenkamp of Nora Springs were on a Polaris ATV when it rolled over going up a steep hill.

As a result of the rollover accident, Sharli and Ian were uninjured but Brian Fessler was sent to a hospital by Mason City Fire medics for non-life threatening injuries.

The ATV appeared to have minimal damage.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Department was assisted by Mason City Fire Medics, Rockwell EMT’s, and Mercy Airmed.
