Mason City man sent to jail for theft

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was sent to jail for a theft and fined for another.

Mason City police arrested John J. Colombo, age 59 of Mason City, back on March 25 for stealing. Judge Patrick Byrne found him guilty of fifth-degree theft at a trial on June 15. Judge Byrne sentenced Colombo to 2 days in jail and ordered him to pay $375.00 in court fees and costs. Colombo was immediately taken to jail to serve his sentence.

Earlier, on April 26, Colombo was found guilty of another theft. Mason City police had arrested him back on March 9 and he was charged with fifth-degree theft. Judge Rolf Aronson found hum guilty on April 26 and ordered him to pay $556.70 in fines and court fees.
