MASON CITY – The Mason City School District is facing another audit of financial transactions under the watch of former Superintendent Anita Micich.

The Mason City Community School District Board of Education and Superintendent received a letter from the Office of Auditor of State of Iowa dated May 31, 2016 notifying the district of a request for reaudit of the Mason City Community School District for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2015 filed with the Office of Auditor of State.

The letter states, “Based upon the request for reaudit and other information provided, we have determined reaudit procedures are necessary and appropriate. For your information, in addition to fiscal year 2015 transactions, the reaudit may involve a review of selected prior year and current year transactions and records, as deemed necessary.”

The Office of Auditor of State expects the reaudit work at the District to begin in July 2016. After the reaudit is completed, a written report which is public information will be issued by the Office of Auditor of State. Board President Janna Arndt and Superintendent Michael Penca stated, “The district will respond, after review of the findings, to make any recommended changes found needed through this reaudit process.”

Looks like she’s dressed for a trip to Mexicant.

Mexicant??? Explain!
Looks fine to me.

After reading numerous comments of yours on several different topics and after parsing those comments, the only conclusion is that you are one serious dumbass.

Wooohh ! The Crooked Hillery/Bill Foundation scandal might not even compare to the rumors going on. PS – some women are not what they seem to be. Confused ? VOTE TRUMP – clean house and start anew.

This is a very good thing for all parties. The school board and public can bid Anita farewell knowing that the finances were in order or the books were cooked. Glad its happening.

This story just gets better and better, doesn’t it?

I heard that one of the board members found things that were not in line. Jodi Draper has talked about many things on budget and Iowa code about the budget in the board meetings that are on the U Tube Channel.

Matt,
I looked all through the Glob today and not a word about this, I did hear it on KGLO radio today and that’s strange, because their crack news team usually just reads the Glob articles on the air. Did I miss it?
Are you now the “New York Times” of Mason City i e if NIT says it’s news it’s news? Good job!! Without NIT I wouldn’t know anything going on in Mason Gulch.

I support you Matt! The Globe is a joke. I don’t read nor do I support it. You want the real news, I come here. You give everyone a chance to respond with comments. You do a good job and I appreciate it.

Matt is right…the globe does cover its own and openly promotes what the estabishment wants. I think we are lucky to have alternative news sources like NIT or a lot of this stuff would never hit the press.

Not of fan of the Globe Gazette, but they did cover it & in much more detail than here on NIT.

How unusual is this? If there is wrong doing she should be held accountable and her severance package reduced>

Some State of Iowa audit divisions send a bill to the organization the state is auditing. I do not know if that is the case with school systems but it is with insurance companies. And these departments know how to bill BIG. Don’t think we will ever know one way or the other in this situation.

I don’t believe there is a charge to the district for a reaudit.
