The IHSAA provides the “Friend of the School” award to allow schools to honor an individual(s) who supports school activities in his/her respective district and enjoys working on behalf of students. Each member school was provided information about the award along with an application and was invited and encouraged to participate. Mason City Community School District Athletics and Activities Director Robert Kenny and Athletics and Activities Secretary Shari Rottinghaus submitted this application for this award.
IHSAA Executive Director Alan Beste said: “The IHSAA is grateful for all individuals at the local level who assist schools throughout the year with high school activities. Whether they serve as public address announcers, score keepers, timers, accompanists, assist with theatrical sets and productions or other school programs, the IHSAA knows they are important to the success of local school programs. The Athletic Association is pleased to be able to honor these individuals.”
