MASON CITY – A Mason City couple messed with cops during a traffic stop and ended up in a jail cell.
The incident unfolded at 1:32 AM on April 3 during a traffic stop conducted by a Mason City police officer near 19th Street and South Federal Avenue. The officer stopped a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Austin Bradley Willier for speeding. During the traffic stop, Willier’s level of sobriety was investigated by officers. During that time, a passenger in the car, 22-year-old Angela Marie Lynn, allegedly exited the car and attempted to interfere with officers as they performed their job. Willier allegedly interfered in some way, as well.
As a result, Willier was arrested for second offense operating while intoxicated, speeding, no insurance, no driver’s license, carrying a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles) and interference with official acts.
Lynn was arrested for public intoxication and interference with official acts.
The couple was taken to the county jail, booked, and released pending court dates.
Willier was busted by Mason City cops back in 2011 for drunk driving. After a guilty plea, he ended up paying over $4,000 in fines, fees and restitution in that case.
