MASON CITY – A Chinese woman has entered a guilty plea after police raided a prostitution house.
The raid took place Wednesday, February 24, at 546 East State Street, the now-former home of a business known as Asian Body Works. Mason City police served a search warrant as part of an investigation into that business. This led to the arrest of Suling Lu, age 48 of Mason City, for the charge of prostitution, an aggravated misdemeanor.
The department was assisted by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and Department of Homeland Security-Investigative Division.
Lu was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail, where she was appointed a public defender and a Mandarin Chinese interpreter. On March 28, Lu entered a guilty plea. She awaits sentencing on April 11.
Police said at the time of the raid that the investigation of this case was continuing and more arrests were possible. However, there has been no word on if any “johns” were known or could possibly be arrested, or any new charges whatsoever.
Name of the johns should be publicly released.

I’m offended that whom ever wrote this article felt it important to identify this woman by her origin. No one cares she is Chinese! That’s like saying, Egyptian man caught running. No one cares where he is from and the article should not focus on her origin unless it’s an essential part of the case or article. This is not because this is a follow-up article and Chinese woman aren’t the only prostitutes Mason City has. A prostitute is a sex slave and should not be made a victim by pointing out her origin. No one sets out to be a prostitute. There are people who are controlling this and other woman like her and its time for us to stop looking at them as the perps.

How do you know no one sets out to be a prostitute? Everyone has a dream, just because you didn’t or couldn’t make it as one doesn’t mean that nobody want’s to be a prostitute.I agree with you, any nationality can aspire to be one. Now, you believe that someone above her was running this operation? Who was it? Was it the mayor and city council? Perhaps it was the chamber, it was in the cultural crescent you know.
