ELK RUN HEIGHTS, IOWA – An Iowa man has died today after he apparently accidentally shot himself with his own gun.
Early Friday morning shortly before 1 AM, emergency responders were called to the 500 block of Amber Lane in Elk Run Heights, Iowa, for an injured man. At the scene, emergency CPR was performed on an un-named man with a gunshot wound.
An investigation reveals that as the man was getting out of his vehicle, he lost control or dropped a handgun belonging to him, and it fired and struck him in the leg.
The victim was taken to a Waterloo hospital and he did not survive the injury.
