Northwood man wanted for bold theft attempts at Mason City retailers

MASON CITY – When you load up a shopping cart full of your favorite stuff, you are supposed to pay for it before leaving the store – but one wanted North Iowa man does it his own way.

Mason City police are searching for 53-year-old Dennis Lee Jaspers of Northwood, who was recently released from jail in Worth county.  Mason City police say he committed two bold theft attempts in recent months and is wanted on arrest warrants.

According to a MCPD spokesman, on November 28, 2015, at about 1:44 pm, Walmart employees reported a shoplifting had occurred. The suspect ran from employees and allegedly got into a vehicle that left the scene. Witnesses gave the plate and vehicle description. The vehicle left but then returned to Walmart where MCPD officers stopped the truck and arrested Dennis Jaspers for third degree theft. He is accused of trying to push a cart of merchandise valued at $855.00 out of Wal mart without paying for it. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine for a small baggie of suspected meth found in his possession. At some point, Jaspers posted bond and was released.

Then, on December 2, Shopko reported a shoplifting that occurred the day before.  A suspect pushed a cart with $381.00 worth of merchandise out of the store without paying. Officers applied for a warrant for Jaspers charging him with third degree theft (due to prior convictions for theft).

There are currently 3 or 4 active arrest warrants for Jasper for third degree theft, police say. If anyone knows Jaspers’ whereabouts, please contact law enforcement.

bold might not be the right word for this low life. how is it that he gets arrested every other day for meth or theft or both yet he must still have his drivers license allowing him to travel around six counties under the influence of meth robbing and stealing. From everyone in his path. why is he not in prison like anyone else would be.

Denny Jaspers is at Prairie Ridge in Mason City. He has 4 arrest warrants in Cerro Gordo County, warrants out of Freeborn County, and was arrested 41 times in 2015 in Cerro Gordo, Worth, and Freeborn counties. He was charged with 8 burglaries, 8 3rd degree thefts, possession of methamphetamine 4 times, over 10 5th degree thefts, unlawful use of a credit card, trespassing, leaving the scene of an accident, open container, three speeding tickets, multiple no insurance tickets, no registration, etc. The only reason I know this about this dirt bag is because he burglarized our house and garage while we were at work, was caught with our stuff, yet was arrested and released on his own recognizance. No charges were filed and our possessions have not been returned.

Don’t worry, they will all be pled down to one count of 5th degree theft, and all the burglary will be pled to one tresspassing. He will get time served and be out before the summer ends in time to do more cart walks at Walmart and rummage through your neighbors garage too!

Where is he?

I’m not going to san publicly, but if mcpd needs to know, they can contact worth county and find out where the judge ordered jaspers to reside until his court appearances. Check the court site.

Yep, even douche bag career criminal burglars have a right to medical treatment, including sobriety. I wish him the best.

Lol no one is looking for Jaspers, they know where he is.

Denny, you haven’t changed a bit.
