DES MOINES – A man who police tied to the murder scene of an elderly Iowa woman has been shot dead by police.
On January 24, 2016 at approximately 4:30 AM, Des Moines Police Department Patrol Officers and Des Moines Fire Department Medics were dispatched to 1413 Pioneer Road to check on the welfare of a female resident of that home. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased female within the home.
The victim in this incident has been identified as 71-year-old Norma Jean McNeeley. She resided at 1413 Pioneer Road.
On February 18, 2016, Des Moines Police Detectives were notified by the DCI Lab of a DNA match of a suspect and blood evidence collected at the scene of Norma McNeeley’s murder. Ali Eisa Abdalla Yahia has been identified as the source of the blood at the scene. Des Moines Police Detectives believe Yahia to be the sole suspect in this case.
A few days earlier, on February 13, 2016, Yahia was shot and killed by Urbandale Police officers after firing upon them during an investigation unrelated to the McNeeley homicide.
