NIACC women fall to Kirkwood, 83-76

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – Madison Wood scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead No. 4 Kirkwood to a 83-76 victory over the NIACC women in an ICCAC basketball contest Saturday in the NIACC gym.

Kirkwood also received 13 points from Ariana Dampier.

NIACC was led by sophomore point guard Sammie Sproul with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Also for NIACC, Savannah Lentz scored 15 points with four assists. Trudy Peterson and Anna Eckert both scored 11 points and Diamond Miller scored nine points with six rebounds.

Lentz was 3 of 7 from 3-point range to increase her career school-leading total to 131. Lentz also has 520 career points, which ranks 32nd on school’s career list.
Cortni Rush, who played in the 2013-14 season, ranks 31st on the career list with 521 points.

Trudy Peterson was 3 of 7 from 3-point range to increase her career total to 107, which is tied for fifth on the school’s career list. Peterson now has 487 career points.

Kirkwood (20-4 overall) leads the league with a 7-0 record. NIACC (12-10 overall) is in fourth place in the conference with a 4-3 record.

NIACC returns to action Saturday, Feb. 6 at Iowa Central.
