Ventura man guilty of meth possession
MASON CITY – A Ventura man struck a plea deal and is guilty of possession of methamphetamine.
Matthew Wade Slater, age 40, was arrested by Cerro Gordo county deputies back on June 30, 2015. He was accused of being in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, two illegal drugs. He posted bond that day, and an arraignment hearing was scheduled for August 4. However, Slater did not appear in court, and an arrest warrant was issued.
A week later, on the afternoon of August 11, Slater turned himself in and entered a not guilty plea several days later.
In a November plea bargain, Slater pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and the other charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. He was sentenced to 5 days in jail and $1,868.50 in fines and court fees.
