WEBSTER CITY, IOWA – A Chicago man was ejected from his car after losing control and then run over by another vehicle as he lay in the highway, police said.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a one-car accident occurred at about 6:34 PM January 8, 2016. Anthony Sanfratello, age 19 of Chicago, was driving westbound on Highway 20 near the 138 mile marker in Hamilton county. Sanfratello’s 2006 Pontiac Torrent entered into the median where it rolled once. Sanfratello – who was not wearing a seatbelt – was ejected onto the eastbound lane of Highway 20. As he lay in the road, an eastbound SUV swerved to miss his body, making no contact. However, a second vehicle following was unable to avoid and drove over top of the victim.
Sanfratello was later pronounced deceased.
The accident remains under investigation.
