NIACC goes 2-1 at own volleyball tournament

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The NIACC volleyball team went 2-1 at the NIACC volleyball tournament on Saturday.

NIACC topped Riverland CC 3-0 in its first match at the NIACC volleyball tournament on Saturday in the NIACC gym. NIACC won 25-12, 25-20, 25-6.
RCTC topped NIACC 3-2 in the Lady Trojans’ second match of the day. RCTC won 21-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-23, 15-12.

NIACC stopped the Waldorf College Junior Varsity 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) in its final match of the day.

Against Riverland, sophomore Karlie Niedert led the Lady Trojans with 10 kills and six blocks. Freshman Kaylee Whittington had eight kills, six digs and five ace serves and freshman Aubury Coleman had seven kills.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Hailey Winter had 19 assists eight digs, Jackie Bleifus had six assists, Liv Block had seven digs and three ace serves and Amber Carter had six digs.

Against RCTC, Whittington had 15 kills and Niedert had 10 kills to lead the Lady Trojans. They also received six kills each from Bailey Walter, Coleman, and Sydney Larson.

Winter had 22 assists and Bleifus had 17 assists. Whittington had 12 digs and three ace serves, Block had 17 digs and Niedert had four blocks.
Against the Waldorf JV, Whittington had 12 kills and Niedert had seven kills. Zoe Schneider and Coleman both had six kills.

Also for the Lady Trojans, Winter collected 17 assists and Bleifus had 14 assists. Schneider had four ace serves and Bleifus had three ace serves. Block led the way with 13 digs, Whittington had 12 digs and Winter had 10 digs.
