CLEAR LAKE – Clear Lake firefighters put out a blaze this morning at the North Iowa landfill and clues are being sought as to how it started.
Cerro Gordo deputies and Clear Lake firefighters responded to a fire at the landfill at about 5:32 AM Friday morning. Upon arrival, there was a large pile of garbage on fire, according to the sheriff’s office. Clear Lake fire extinguished the blaze.
According to the landfill, the early morning fire was extingushed quickly and the landfill was able to open on time. Landfill operators are continuing to watch for hot spots and are trying to determine the orgin of the fire.
