Sex offender pleads not guilty in prostitution sting case

MASON CITY – A North Iowa sex offender who became ensnared in a prostitution sting has pleaded not guilty and awaits trial.

Tier 3 registered sex offender Albert Eugene Struecker, age 50 of Titonka, Iowa, awaits a jury trial on October 20 after he entered a not guilty plea to a charge of aggravated misdemeanor prostitution.

According to Mason City police, on June 18th the Mason City Police Department with the assistance of the Iowa Department of Public Safety conducted an undercover prostitution operation in Mason City. The operation was part of a several month long investigation. Struecker was arrested in that operation after having allegedly offered to purchase a sex act with an undercover officer.

Struecker was convicted in 2002 for 3rd degree sexual abuse and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. His victim was a female child under the age of 13.
