MASON CITY – A North Iowa man previously convicted of domestic abuse has pled guilty in prostitution sting case and is in jail.
On June 18, 2015, the Mason City Police Department with the assistance of the Iowa Department of Public Safety conducted an undercover prostitution operation in Mason City. The operation was part of a several month long investigation.
Seven people were arrested and charged with prostitution; an aggravated misdemeanor. James Arthur Rode, age 68 of Titonka, Iowa, was among those arrested. He entered a guilty plea to prostitution on August 7 and was sentenced to 365 days in jail with all but 2 suspended. He was also ordered to pay $1,068.75 in fines and court fees, must submit a DNA sample and was placed on probation for 2 years.
Rode offered to purchase a sex act, police said. He was convicted in Dubuque county earlier of domestic abuse.
