MASON CITY – A Mason City woman twice-convicted of drunk driving and wanted for weeks has turned herself in and was taken to jail.
Jennifer Marie Galkin, age 22, had been wanted since June 4 on an arrest warrant for violating her probation in a conviction for second offense drunk driving. Friday, she appeared at the Cerro Gordo Courthosue and was promptly arrested and taken to the county jail. She is being held on $5,000 bond as she awaits a July 6 probation revocation hearing.
Galkin pleaded guilty in September of 2014 in this case, but has paid only $75 of $2,922.43 in fines and court fees she was ordered to pay by a judge. Galkin allegedly drove her vehicle into a ditch near the Cinema West Theaters – where she claims to be employed – at about 1:33 AM April 21, 2014.
Galkin pled guilty to first offense operating while intoxicated in 2012. Also in 2012, Galkin received a deferred judgement and probation for delivery of marijuana, a class D felony. She was found guilty once already of violating that probation, and as of this month, faces a second charge of violating the probation. She will face this charge also on July 6.
