MASON CITY – A wanted Mason City man was caught and arrested by a deputy Tuesday after a short foot pursuit.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, on June 23, 2015, just before 6:00 PM, an off-duty Cerro Gordo County Deputy saw Bryen Paul Servantez, age 31 of Mason city, walking eastbound on a city street. Servantez was wanted on outstanding warrants for third degree kidnapping, second degree attempted burglary, and assault causing bodily injury. Servantez had been arrested on the same warrants on January 21, 2015 by Cerro Gordo County deputies after he had been wanted for nearly 7 months. At that time, Servantez was also charged with two counts of interference with official acts for resisting arrest on the warrants on two separate occasions. Servantez had been released on March 10, 2015 after his bond was reduced by the courts. Servantez’ warrants were re-issued on April 6, 2015 and he has been eluding capture since then.
As a deputy approached Servantez Tuesday night, he attempted to allude capture. The deputy gave pursuit on foot and finally caught Servantez in the 900 block of 6th Place Southeast. Servantez was transferred to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for evaluation of complaints of upper body pain. He was released and taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail, where he is now being held on $30,000 cash bond or the warrants and $300 bond for the new charge of interference with official acts.
Deputies at the scene were assisted by the Mason City police department.
