CHARLES CITY – A flood warning continues in Charles City for the Cedar River, as minor flooding has been seen in the area.
The National Weather Service shows that the Cedar River crested at 14.23 feet Tuesday night in Charles City. Flood stage is 12 feet.
The Cedar at the downtown dam was vicious Tuesday as water poured over the top of the dam. Still, kayakers could be seen a few hundred yards down stream. Some trees, flower beds, park benches and other objects were partially submerged along the banks in town.
The river level should begin dropping and be near normal by the weekend.
