Two dead after collision in Howard county

logo-iowa-state-patrolCRESCO, IA – An auto collision Saturday left two Decorah residents dead.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, two-car accident occurred Saturday, June 6 at about 11 AM near Highway 9 and Highway 139 about 2 miles east of Cresco.

A 2002 Lincoln Town Car driven by 88-year-old Donald Laverne Olsen of Decorah pulled into the path of a 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by 75-year-old Gerald Ollendieck of Ridgeway, Iowa. Olsen was allegedly stopped at a stop sign when he pulled out from the stop and into the path of Ollendieck’s pickup truck, which struck the passenger side door of the Lincoln.

As a result of the crash, Olsen and his passenger, 82-year-old Wilma Tie Olsen, both died. Ollendieck was injured and taken to a Cresco hospital.
