Barred driver flees cops for a second time this year

MASON CITY – A man already arrested earlier this year after fleeing police during a traffic stop bailed from his car when an officer spotted him driving once again.

According to Mason City police, 45-year-old Todd Eric Thoreson was observed by an officer driving a vehicle with no license at about 10 AM Saturday at the 100 block of South Jefferson. Thereon allegedly bailed from the car but was soon caught. He was arrested and charged with driving while barred.

Thoreson is still in trouble from his last run-in with police back on February 6. He was pulled over that morning just before 3 AM by a Cerro Gordo deputy for a traffic violation near 14th Street and North Hampshire Avenue. However, Mr. Thoreson made a run for freedom but didn’t get far before he was caught and cuffed for a ride to the jailhouse. He was charged in that incident with driving while barred, driving under suspension, no insurance, and interference with official acts. He’s awaiting a jury trial on May 19.
