WATERLOO – An Iowa woman was jailed after police discovered she had bought a gun for a convicted felon.
On Wednesday, April 8th, 2015 at 8:41 PM, officers with the Waterloo Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Mitchell and Bourland Avenue. Contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, Christine T. Williams, age 28. Sitting in the passenger side of the vehicle was a Marcus Sykes, age 19.
During the traffic stop, a SCCY CPX-2, 9mm handgun was located in the middle console of the vehicle. Williams admitted that she had just purchased the handgun and gave it Sykes who is a convicted felon. Sykes has a felony conviction for Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, from 2012.
Christine T. Williams was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (by aiding and abetting a felon), Carrying Weapons, Providing False Information, and Driving while license suspended.
Marcus Sykes was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
