MASON CITY – A woman that was arrested as part of a theft ring that victimized a number of Mason City businesses is back in jail for violating her probation in that case.
In April of 2014, Mason City police made five arrests related to a local drug ring that had victimized several Mason City businesses. Police had investigated an alleged shoplifting ring that was suspected in multiple shoplifting incidents in or around May 11, 2013. The known value of the loss was at least $1,750 from Mason City businesses. Several people were identified that appeared to have been involved with the thefts, including Ashley Rae O’Donnell, who was charged with third degree theft for her involvement. She later pleaded guilty to fourth degree theft and was given a deferred judgement, 2 years of probation and ordered to pay $1,430.80 in fines and court fees.
O’Donnell is now jailed, accused of violating her probation after Lake Mills police earlier this year brought a charge of felony second degree theft against her. She is scheduled for a May 13 jury trial in the felony theft case case and will face a June 26 probation revocation hearing.
