Potential presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson says people sent to prison come out gay

NIT – Dr. Ben Carson, potential Republican presidential candidate, says homosexuality is a choice because many people “go into prison straight — and when they come out, they’re gay.”

Carson announced this week that he has established a Presidential Exploratory Committee to “examine whether I should become a candidate for President of the United States. If I believe that I have your support and your commitment to help, I will run for President to lead this great country to a brighter future.”

Carson, who says he “grew up poor in the 1950’s in Detroit, Michigan with low self esteem, a horrible temper, and in a single parent household” was asked by CNN whether being gay is a choice. He responded “Absolutely.”

“Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight — and when they come out, they’re gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question,” Carson told CNN.

In 2001, Carson was named by CNN and TIME Magazine as one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists.

Our expert just walked back his comments and issued an apology on Facebook.

“I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended.”

NO thanks Ben. I see your profile of anger and hurt. America doesn’t need a belt to the bottom, it needs a massage.

This guy is scary smart. I think I could vote for him if he runs.

The only thing I don’t like about him is his stance on the 2nd amendment. He says people in the country can have rifles but people in big cities do not need rifles.

@Maybe-Probably because he was raised in the slums of Detroit and knows what happens in the bigger cities. As I said, he is scary smart and I am sure he will do whatever will get him elected. So far the other ones running have not shown me a lot. Of course it is still early and that will change I am sure.

There are stances that Carson takes that I like and agree with but this is a little out there. He also doesn’t believe in evolution. Be careful, LVS, because he supports the rights of Muslims to organize and pray. He doesn’t look at Muslims as a terrorist group but as another religious group who believes in a higher being. He is also against abortion rights. If he could tone down his rhetoric, he might actually make a good president. Right now, he is too right wing.

@bodacious-I can live with the abortion and gay rights stuff. (Although I really don’t think anyone should have the right to tell another what to do with their body and I also don’t care what people do behind closed doors. That is their business. The Muslim thing I had not heard before and just wonder if he isn’t doing the politician thing. I wouldn’t care about that either if they would just quit killing people in the name of their religion. Don’t think that will ever happen though.

don’t get sucked in by bodacious yet LVS. I have not heard Carson speak about that and I follow him. I agree, it is too early to make a decision for 2016, we can wait and let things play out.

What are you talking about?

I saw a posting on facebook that had a quote by Abraham Lincoln, it said “Just because the says something next to a picture on the internet doesn’t make it true” quote.

@John-I just read this morning where he qualified and explained his comments. It makes a lot more sense now. I still like what I see with this guy but am trying to keep a open mind.
