MASON CITY – A Klemme couple allegedly couldn’t resist the urge to steal and were caught Saturday afternoon at a Mason City retail store.
Officers with the Mason City police department were dispatched to the Hy-Vee West grocery store, located at 2400 4th Street SW, Saturday at around noon on a report from employees of two adult shoplifters. After officers arrived, an investigation was conducted and two people were taken to jail.
Arrested were William Michael Thompson, age 66 and his wife, Wendy Kay Thompson, age 62. Both were charged with theft in the fifth degree and released from jail after posting bond.

If they didn’t have money to buy food, then that’s very sad. But they had money to post bail. So why were they stealing?
@Anonymous-because they are to stupid to ever think they might get caught. Liberal voters in action.
Love the headline!
They were just hungry…
Yes, it looks like both of them have been starving for years.
