MASON CITY – He allegedly beats up women, uses drugs in the alleys of the Cultural Crescent, and now has been caught driving after at least four drunk driving arrests.
Mason City’s Bryon Sletten, age 48, was stopped and arrested by a Cerro Gordo deputy Tuesday evening while driving his car in a North End neighborhood, not far from his home at the 800 block of North Monroe. Sletten was charged with driving while barred and jailed and was out back out on the street quickly.
Just a year ago, Sleeted pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicate second offense. He was also caught with marijuana in his car during that stop. He owes the entire $6,406.13 in fines and court fees he was ordered to pay in that case.
Sletten’s transgressions in Mason City are widely documented. He has assaulted women, been caught using drugs in a downtown alley, and many other crimes. He was caught by Mason City police driving drunk in 2011 and pleaded guilty once again, as well as to driving while barred. He was ordered to pay $3,313.13 in fines and fees in that case but has paid just $500.
