RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – Law enforcement was notified late Saturday night of a reckless driver and was able to locate the car before anyone was killed or injured.
The complaint came in at about 11:24 PM Saturday. Law enforcement was alerted that a driver was “all over the roadway” and promptly found the 2002 Honda Civic. The vehicle was stopped by Rockwell Police near the intersection of Highway 65 and 200th Street in rural Cerro Gordo County. A Sheriff’s Deputy, along with Iowa State Patrol Trooper’s arrived a short time later to assist. It was found that the driver, Benito Damas Hernandez, was under the influence of alcohol and there was a young child, age 3, in the vehicle.
Hernandez was charged with first offense operating while intoxicated, child endangerment, interference with official acts, driving while barred, no insurance, open container of alcohol, reckless driving, and fail to restrain child in a booster seat. He is being held in the county jail on $2,000 bond.
This dumb s**t had his kid in one arm and an open container in the other. Guess you cant grab a car seat with your hands full. I hope this puke gets his kid taken away.
