North Iowa man arrested on charges of kidnapping and growing pot

NEW HAMPTON – A man from Ionia in Chickasaw county is facing a rash of charges including felony kidnapping and domestic assault involving strangulation after he was caught by law enforcement and they investigated his activities.

Christopher Lee Bormann, age 32, was arrested by the Chickasaw county Sheriff on October 24 after a search warrant was conducted at his home in Ionia. Deputies were there investigating a domestic abuse assault incident. As a result of that investigation, Bormann has been charged with felony D manufacturing marijuana, felony D failure to affix a drug tax stamp (8 counts), domestic abuse assault, first degree harassment, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of emergency communications.

After further investigation, Bormann was also charged with third degree kidnapping and domestic abuse assault involving impeding of the normal breathing of another individual.

Bormann is in jail awaiting a court date.
