Man arrested after yelling at police takes plea deal

MASON CITY – A man who was arrested recently after yelling some bad words at police officers in the Cultural Crescent took a plea deal and was fined.

A large group of people were outside a local establishment on Delaware Avenue in downtown Mason City at about midnight on August 9. They were observed yelling and dancing on a sidewalk while making odd gestures with their arms, hands and fingers as pulsing music thumped. A Mason City police officer driving nearby observed the situation and immediately turned on his emergency lights, stopped and got out of his SUV squad car.

A male subject, perhaps trying to show he was “down”, made some choice remarks to the officer, eliciting a series of cat calls and “whoops” from the partiers; an undisclosed vehicle also suffered some type of damage at or about this time. The officer called for backup. Another squad car rolled up, then another, and the officers exited their vehicles and approached. As the onlookers danced and pranced on the sidewalk to the bumping tunes, a bald, short Caucasian male subject later identified as 34-year-old Randall Aubrey Holley of Mason City was taken aside by officers who began to intensely question him. Holley raised his voice further, and as he was handcuffed, was overheard yelling, “Ain’t no thang, ya’ll, I ain’ts goin’ to jail” as he laughed and performed for the crowd, who soon dispersed. As officers led Holley away to a waiting squad car, he giggled and laughed, turning back to those left at the scene, saying “I ain’ts goin’ to jail”.

Holley was arrested and taken to jail. He was charged with public intoxication and tampering with a motor vehicle. He was soon released from jail. On August 12, Holley plead guilty to public intoxication and ordered to pay $363.00 in fines and court fees. The charge of tampering with a motor vehicle was apparently dropped.

Holley is a dangerous felon, accused of felony first degree robbery, assault on a peace officer, assault, failing to register as a sex offender, extortion, drunk driving and probation violations that landed him in the Fort Dodge penitentiary for over a year. This year, a woman filed for a protective order in court due to alleged domestic abuse at his hand.

So they made up some charges, arrested someone and then they took him hostage to get the fine. So it was just a money grab.

@Eye-did you even read the article before your comment? The guy is a piece of crap.
