Frederiksen can’t hide porn collection from jurors, judge rules

CHARLES CITY – Child porn images stored on accused murderer Casey Frederiksen’s computer will be admissible in his trial in the death of Evelyn Miller, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Judge Gregg Rosenbladt had been pondering a motion from Frederiksen’s defense team since a hearing on September 15 when he was asked to exclude from trial hundreds of images depicting child sex acts that were found on a hard drive that belonged to Frederiksen, which he had asked a neighbor to conceal for him. The neighbor later turned the hard drive over to investigators.

Little 5-year-old Evelyn Miller was found in the Cedar River near Floyd, where Frederiksen lived with the girl’s mother. She died of sharp stab wounds to the neck. Her body was found July 7, 2005. He was in charge of babysitting her on the day she disappeared. Investigators charged him with first degree murder and first degree sexual abuse in 2012 at a press conference in Floyd. He has been in jail since 2006 and is serving 14 years in prison on child porn charges and ten years on drug charges.

The trial will be in Hamilton county and begin on March 2, 2015.

Floyd county sheriff Rick Lynch says it’s time for Frederiksen to face trial.

“It’s time to get this rolling and present the evidence to the 12 person jury,” Sheriff Lynch said Wednesday night. “Floyd County has had him locked up in another jail since Sept 26, 2012 … paying $60 a day which is now over $44,000 plus we wont go to trial until March of 2015.”
