NIT – Steve King is reveling in the anger and vitriol some American citizens have for him.
The button-pushing Republican Congressman sat down with his wife, Marilyn, two days ago and read on camera a series of “mean tweets” that people sent him. Playing softly in the background is an old REM song “Everybody Hurts” as the Kings snicker and laugh at the nasty notes.
“Marilyn and I occasionally do read tweets people send me. Not all are sweet tweets. Here’s the proof,” King said as he posted the Youtube video (would fellow right-winger Scott Tornquist would be really, really upset that he used Youtube?) He turned off comments on the Youtube page, perhaps signaling that the tweets were quite enough feedback.
Among the notes the Kings read were “You are a sad excuse for a human being” and “You’re a butthead” and “Steve King is a horrible person.”
Meanwhile, King released a statement saying he may not debate his political opponent, Jim Mowrer, later this month in Storm Lake, due to what King said was a “dishonest” ad being run by the Mowrer campaign.
“If he wants to call me a liar, he can do that on the debate stage,” Mowrer responded.
