MASON CITY – A Belmond woman was jailed for drunk driving Sunday and then got in trouble at the jail.
Tabitha Lynne Hembree, age 23, was stopped by a Mason City police officer Sunday at about 2:26 AM and arrested for drunk driving near 4th Street SW and Pierce Avenue. She was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail in Mason City and as she was being booked at about 4:00 AM, a deputy discovered a controlled substance. Further charges of possession of a controlled substance and attempting to possession and convey contraband were added (both serious misdemeanors).
Hembree was held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
