Flasher who lost appeal sent to Beje

MASON CITY – A now-convicted sex offender who flashed a teen at the Southbridge Mall parking lot is awaiting a bed at the Beje Clark halfway house.

Korey Allen Jurgena, age 43 of Plymouth, appealed his conviction for two counts of indecent exposure, stemming from an incident that took place at noon on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Jurgena was in the Soughtbridge Mall parking lot in Mason City when a teen claimed to her grandmother that Jurgena had twice lowered his pants, exposing himself through sheer underwear. The teen and her grandmother ended up following Jurgena in a car so police could apprehend him.

Jurgena was found guilty of both counts of indecent exposure. On count one he was sentenced to one year in the county jail with all but thirty days suspended. He has been granted work release on the thirty day jail sentence and is now awaiting a cot at Beje Clark. In addition, a no-contact order was entered, and Jurgena was placed on two years of supervised probation. Jurgena was ordered to participate in a sex offender treatment program and register as a sex offender for ten years. Jurgena was also placed on parole supervision for a period of ten years. The sentence on count two, of one year in the county jail, was fully suspended and ordered to be served consecutively to count one.
