MASON CITY – Police stopped a vehicle early Monday morning and found meth ready to be delivered and a North Iowa man armed with a long knife.
Mason City police conducted a traffic stop Monday just after 1:04 AM near Federal Avenue and 25th Street NW after the officer recognized that the driver is known to have a barred license.
During the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, police confirmed that the driver, 27-year-old Jeremiah Daniel Barker of Latimer, was barred from driving. He pled guilty in Franklin county court to second offense drunk driving last year and lost his license. Barker was arrested, jailed and later released.
The passenger in the car, 22-year-old Justin Albert Heiserman, also of Latimer, was found to be in possession of a dangerous weapon – a knife over 8 inches long.
Officers also discovered illegal drugs – methamphetamine – and drug paraphernalia in the car as it was searched.
Heiserman was charged with felony carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of meth with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed and held on bond. Heiserman has been charged with serious crimes in several North Iowa counties, including felony theft (Worth), assault with intent to inflict serious injury and drug possession (Franklin) and more.
