CHARLES CITY – A Nora Springs man scheduled for trial Tuesday on seven charges of sexual abuse in the third degree has had his trial pushed back to December.
Robbie A. DeMaris, age 39, was charged by Floyd county prosecutors on March 14, 2014 with the crime of felony C sexual abuse in the third degree. A warrant was issued for DeMaris’ arrest on March 17, and he turned himself into police the next day, posted bond and was released from jail.
The alleged abuse was against an adult and took place over a period of months from July 2012 through May of 2013, leading to seven charges.
At an April 1, 2014 arraignment, Demaris was represented by Mason City attorney Joel Yunek and pled not guilty.
On September 19, Yunek entered motions for a continuance and a waived Demars’ right to a speedy trial. Judge Christopher Foy denied the continuance and set a new trial date for December 2 and a preliminary hearing for November 17.
DeMaris is married and the owner of R&R Salvage in Nora Springs.
