DES MOINES – Veteran, teacher and candidate for State Treasurer Sam Clovis has endorsed Shawn Dietz in his race for state senate.
“I have traveled this state for over a year and met many people seeking office. I have seen people that are running for power and attention and also those who have an inherent desire to serve and improve Iowa. Shawn is one of those selfless folks. His experience as both Hampton Mayor and his continual efforts to preserve liberty will benefit the citizens of this district. This is also a critical district. This is a district that could decide control of the State Senate for the next two years. This district could help determine if we can get legislation passed that will stop reckless spending and save money for Iowans. I encourage everyone to vote for Shawn Dietz for Senate 27 .”
Shawn knows what it’s like to go through the economic downturn as he experienced what happened to many people across Iowa himself in 2008 when his job as a quality control technician was eliminated because the company shut its doors. He knows what it’s like to get his hands dirty and put in the hard work necessary for his family, community, and its citizens as he’s served as Mayor of Hampton starting in 2011. Dietz was recently endorsed by Texas Governor Rick Perry because Perry recognized that Dietz understands what it’ll take to bring economic prosperity and success back to the State of Iowa.
After a second place finish in the US Senate race, Sam Clovis’ supporters rallied behind the straight-talking conservative to run for State Treasurer. Governor Branstad and Lt. Gov Reynolds expressed their support for the retired Air Force Colonel and Sioux City College Professor.
Dietz is facing incumbent Democrat Amanda Ragan in the November election for the District 27 Senate seat.
