Hawkeye tailgater allegedly pours beer on computer keyboard when person refuses to turn down music

kinnick-stadium-end-zone-hawkeyesIOWA CITY – Things got nasty in Iowa City this weekend during the Iowa Hawkeye football game loss to the Iowa State Cyclones, and one Iowa man faces a felony for pouring his beer on a laptop keyboard when other tailgaters refused to turn music down.

The Police Division at the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety said 20 people were arrested during Saturday’s big game, and some of the people arrested were less than polite, according to descriptions of arrest circumstances.

A Cedar Rapids man, 50-year-old Jeffrey Paul Happel, is facing a felony D charge of second degree criminal mischief. Happel allegedly asked another tailgating party to turn down their music. A witness said Happel purposely poured beer on the keyboard of a laptop. Happel said it was an accident.

Another man, 21-year-old Austin Dean Tebrink of Ankeny, allegedly stumbled toward police officers near the Kinnick stadium gates and “wanted to talk to the officer about his level of intoxication”. Tebrink could not put a dollar bill in his wallet, and had several chances to leave without getting arrested. He blew a .198 blood alcohol level.

Another man, 23-year-old Devun Anthony Miller of Des Moines, was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct at Kinnick Stadium. Miller kept following and harassing a female, police said, and the female asked Miller to leave her alone several times. Miller had slurred speech and staggered while walking.

Other individuals that were arrested during football game day operations:

Brosnan, Daniel Maurice, 56 of Coralville, IA for Public Intox 3rd at Lot 40 at 0958 hours. Brosnan was causing a disturbance with other Hawkeye fans. Brosnan tried to stand and stumbled. Brosnan had slurred speech. Brosnan refused PBT.
Eastvold, Storm Jeffrey, 18 of West Des Moines, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick, south side at 1234 hours. Eastvold was slumped over, having a hard time sitting. Eastvold needed assistance with standing and walking. Eastvold was in poor condition. Eastvold refused PBT.

Torres, Moroni, 24 of Des Moines, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium, Gate B at 1420 hours. Torres stumbled to the gate was told to not enter the stadium. Torres turned around and walked to the end of the line and entered the stadium. Torres swayed while standing and smelled of alcohol. Torres refused PBT.

Ryan, Daniel J, 25 of Blair, NE for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1432 hours. Ryan was asked to leave and was escorted out of the gate. Ryan came back to the same gate and tried to re-enter. Ryan had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Ryan admitted drinking. Refused PBT.

Trimble, Aubrey Marie, 25 of DeWitt, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium, Gate D at 1454 hours. Trimble was trying to enter the stadium. Trimble had difficulty standing up and was swaying while standing. Trimble had slurred speech and admitted drinking. Trimble blew .273 PBT.

Streyffeler, David Joseph, 41 of West Des Moines, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium, Gate H at 1452 hours. Streyffeler had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and was unsteady on his feet. Streyffeler had slurred speech and refused PBT.

Gunderson, Kyle R, 20 of Carlton, MN for Public Intox and Interference with Official Acts at Kinnick Stadium, Gate K at 1447 hours. Gunderson stumbled backwards into gate J. Gunderson walked away from officers and ignored the officer’s request to stop. Gunderson pulled away from the officer. Gunderson had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. Gunderson refused PBT.

Bonifaz, Jan Kirshnam, 18 of Iowa City, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1531 hours. Bonifaz was found in the stands falling asleep. Bonifaz had poor balance, slurred speech and smelled strongly of ingested alcohol. Bonifaz blew .184 PBT.

Smith, Shane Allen, 20 of Iowa City, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1545 hours. Multiple fans were complaining about Smith groping females and being intoxicated. Security asked Smith to leave the stadium and he refused. Smith had bloodshot, watery eyes, an odor of ingested alcohol and was aggressive. Smith refused PBT.

Kempf, Aaron Marcus, 19 of Olds, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1529 hours. Kempf was pointed out by fans as being intoxicated. Kempf admitted drinking and falling in a creek. Kempf admitted not knowing where he was and sitting in someone else’s seat. Kempf was covered in mud. Kempf refused PBT.

Mack, Collin Mason, 27 of Hiawatha, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium, Gate A at 1530 hours. Mack was attempting to fight with others at the gate. Mack said someone bumped into him. Mack had slurred speech, unsteady balance and refused PBT.

Hughes, Aaron D, 41 of Omaha, NE for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1558 hours. Officer was approached by a fan stating Hughes was being belligerent and cursing at others. Hughes admitted drinking and swearing at fans. Hughes blew .197 PBT.

Sempf, Ryan Kurt, 19 of Cedar Rapids, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium, Gate A at 1508 hours. A female reported that Sempf called her a name and slapped her sunglasses off her face. The female didn’t wish to file a report, but didn’t want to be bothered by Sempf anymore. Sempf blew .181 PBT.

Mast, Courtney Dawn, 21 of Kinross, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1448 hours. Mast was vomiting in the concourse. Mast could not keep her balance, and had slurred speech. Mast smelled of ingested alcohol. Mast admitted to drinking too much and couldn’t keep count. Mast refused PBT.

Schug, Adam Clark, 38 of Cedar Rapids, IA for Public Intox at Kinnick Stadium at 1644 hours. Schug was passed out in bathroom after vomiting. Schug had a strong odor of alcohol. Schug admitted drinking. Schug was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. Schug refused PBT.

Cone, Nolan Robert, 22 of Alta, IA for Public Intox at 10 blk East Jefferson Street, Iowa City at 1817 hours. Cone was passed out on the Cambus. Cone refused medical. Cone had a strong odor of alcohol on his person. Cone blew .196.

Hoefle, Aaron Kenneth, 23 of Iowa City, IA for Public Intox at Lot 75 at 1844 hours.
