Mason City Assessor jailed for domestic assault

Cerro Gordo County Courthouse INSET: City Assessor Dana Naumann
Cerro Gordo County Courthouse INSET: City Assessor Dana Naumann

MASON CITY – The Mason City Assessor has been arrested and charged with serious domestic assault.

Danielle Elizabeth Naumann, age 38, was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail at 1:42 AM Friday morning, charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor. She is being held on no bond until she sees a judge.

According to Mason City Police Chief Michael Lashbrook, a male victim called police to report a domestic situation sometime around 1:30 AM at a residence at 1209 15th Street SE. Police were already en route when Danielle Naumann then called police. Upon arrival, officers investigated the situation and determined that due to the injuries sustained by the male victim, Naumann was the primary aggressor. The injuries to the man did not require medical attention, but were significant enough to warrant a serious misdemeanor charge. Reports do not indicate there were any children present, nor do they indicate that alcohol played any role in the incident.

A call to the Mason City Assessor’s office at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse this morning was met with a “No comment” and a lightning fast hang-up.

Nauman, a public employee, has no direct boss. She is employed by the Mason City Conference Board, which hired her and immediately set her about the task of spending $1 million or more to re-assess all the commercial and residential properties in Mason City.  Naumann was hired by the board about 19 months ago, which is made up of Mason City mayor and council, Mason City school board and the Cerro Gordo county supervisors.

@LVS….I do know her personally and the man she abused. She certainly is not emotionally or mentally fit for the job she has. And as far as her having a black eye. She must have done a good makeup job before going to work the following Monday …because she was never struck by her victim. And, I’m pretty sure that if she had a black eye or even the beginnings of one….the police would have noticed.

She is not smaller and weaker than her victim. The injuries he received were bites left on his hand, wrist, forearm and thigh. She also broke through two oak doors that he had locked to get away from her. Two weeks before this incident another fight ensued where she broke a 72 inch television and a glass dining room table. Does she have a problem? Many. She comes from a family of mental illness….maybe she should accept the fact that she is ill also and get the help she needs.

@Daniella-I do not know the lady personally, but she does not sound like the type of person we would want evaluating our housing value’s does it?

If the police charged her there had to be good reason. First She is smaller and weaker. Second, She has some infuence in the city. In her mug shot picture she has no black eye. I can’t see a mark on her. If she has a history of domestic abuse with other partners maybe the problem lies with her?

Another great hire by that crazy broad at the city human resources dept.

I heard from someone in the courthouse that she looked tough today…black eye, etc. if he hit her first I am glad she defended herself. I’m sure the story will play out.

any thing makes the news, some times, the whole story, is she probably was wrongfully arrested, due to being a wimp prick. The whole story is he probably was guilty of the whole deal an swung some blows to. But being a chicken he called the key stone cops, first an lied to cover his AAAss,an an she was arrested. Usually the Man is arrested due to he’s larger, has more bulk, an can do more damage physically, mentally an emotionally. Guess the truth will come out, it the end. Hell run criminal

Prior to becoming the Mason City Assessor, Dana Naumann was the Assessor for Franklin County. I seem to remember reading on-line that her husband at the time, was charged with domestic abuse or assault as well.

Be interesting on how consistent they are. Tepner was suspended for the same thing.

She is a great lady and a great Assessor. She lost her temper. We all have at some point. No need to judge her for only one night.

She lost her temper?! Just wait till everyone gets a higher assessment, then you’ll see hot under the collar.

There’s losing your temper and then there’s assault! There’s a big difference between the two

Perhaps she was mad her domestic partner was a wimp and wanted to toughen him up.

This is just great, another drinker deciding how much money we should pay in taxes. I bet she hates cannabis users when she’s drunk too. Her drug is legal so she’s good and they’re bad.

Wow! Assume much?

This is why I will not read the Globe or KIMT, Important people like dana will not show up on there news.. But NIT will, GOOD Job Matt. The Globe will Pick and choose who they put up!!

I concur. This reason alone is enough to render the Globe a piece of shit rag newsprint. Double Standards, Cronyism, Protectionism, Hypocrisy. It makes me very angry thinking the Globe would shield some people “in power” while exposing others. ADD KIMT to your list as well. They wouldn’t even cover last November’s local elections…yet many of them drink (and possibly drug) up at Lorado’s every weekend. HYPOCRITES.

Definitely not siding with the glob, but the story was there yesterday.

@Anonymous-I saw it in todays GLOB but not yesterdays. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t there, just means I didn’t see it. The GLOB is all for the establishment and does nothing for the rest of us. Not judging the lady at all. She may have had a good reason for losing her temper. Sounds like a family spat that got of of control. People are just to quick to call the police anymore.

I know, you called the police over things people write online.

@SUCKS-If I had you would be in JAIL.

@SUCKs-comments like that just go to show how ignorant and braindead you really are. Smoke another joint and you will forget all about it by morning.

Sometimes LVS we can agree to disagree. Serious domestic assault is more than a family spat!! If this were another northender or import– everyone would be all over this like stink on s_ _t! Finally, an offense that is not covered up by City Hall. That is how I look at it,, since she works for the board made up of our mayor, council, school board etc.

What’s fair is fair. And the attitude of letting things slide and keep silent about family domestics is why it keeps happening..

@Marybeth-I guess we will just disagree on this one then. I was not there (neither were you) so we really do not know what happened do we? I am not going to judge her without knowing. Maybe she had a good reason and maybe she didn’t.

“I am not going to judge her without knowing.” -LVS

Pfftt…..
That is some seriously funny stuff right there LVS.

You judge people all the time when you don’t know Jack.

But then that is just part and parcel of you M.O.

Sorry-i hit report comment by mistake. Didn’t mean to do that.

Anonymous – It is easy to judge a hypocrite, idiot like you. You have such a big mouth when trolling around under the Anonymous name don’t you coward?

The globe didn’t have it on at all until it was reported on NIT. I was particularly watching for it.

@Anonymous-I believe you as that is the way the GLOB operates. I must have missed it.
