Incident at gas station lands troubled man in jail

MASON CITY – The list of arrests for Michael Isiah Schenker continues to grow, with his latest arrest coming late Monday at a Mason City gas station.

Schenker, age 19, found himself in trouble again Monday night at the Murphy USA gas station, 4059 4th Street SW. Police were called to that location to take a criminal mischief and assault report at about 8:47 PM. After an investigation, Schenker was arrested on charges of fourth and fifth degree criminal mischief as well as serious assault. He was taken to jail and held on $1,000 cash-only bond.

Schenker, previously listed as homeless by police, but now claiming to live at 1436 North Jefferson, is facing other serious charges at this time, including a felony third degree burglary charge brought by Mason City police on June 23rd. He had been wanted on a warrant since June 24th related to that case. He also faces drug charges brought by the Iowa State Patrol after being stopped on July 10th in Worth county.

Schenker made himself famous after a botched drug deal at Southbridge Mall. On November 19, 2013, he and a woman attempted to trade money for marijuana in a parking lot there, but Schenker wasn’t happy with the deal and pointed an air-soft pistol at the woman. He then fled through the Cultural Crecent, only to be caught by police.
