HAMPTON – A Hampton man charged with two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree accepted a plea deal Thursday and was promptly released from jail, even as he awaits trial on a charge of indecent exposure.
Kentreil Denagelis Gainey, age 23, was charged by Hampton police with two counts of felony C sexual abuse in the third degree against a female subject under 20 years of age. The incident allegedly took place on July 12, 2013. Court notes say Hampton police described the incident as “contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”
On Thursday, July 2, 2014, Gainey entered an Alford Plea – meaning, he does not admit the act, but admits that the prosecution could likely prove the charge. He pled guilty to assault causing bodily injury and possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail on both counts, to run concurrently.
Gainey was released Thursday for time-served. He was assessed court costs of $437.98.
Gainey also stands charged with indecent exposure stemming from another investigation by Hampton police following an incident that allegedly occurred on July 13th, 2013.
He awaits a July 17th trial on that charge.
