MASON CITY – A Mason City man who has been arrested numerous times from being drunk in public and causing problems was arrested again recently by Mason City police, even as he awaits trials on other charges.
Brandon Blake Slater, age 34 with no permanent address in Mason City, was arrested on June 2nd by Mason City police for aggravated public intoxication, third or subsequent offense. Judge Rolf Aronsen denied a prosecutor’s request to increase bond. Later, Judge Annette Boehlje granted the increased bond request and set that at $2,000. Slater is in the Cerro Gordo County Jail awaiting a July 29th jury trial.
Slater was also arrested on May 3rd and May 16th for public intoxication, third or subsequent offense and criminal mischief in the third degree due to his actions on both dates.
On May 3rd, police reported that dispatch received a call about a person lying in the bushes at 5th Street and South Delaware. Officers arrived and found Slater at the location, apparently passed out or sleeping and intoxicated. Slater was arrested. During the arrest, Slater caused damage to one of the squad cars that responded, leading to the criminal mischief charge.
In recent months, Slater has been found passed out drunk in a North End Kum & Go bathroom, and refused to come out; he later pled guilty to public intoxication. In January, police charged him with fifth degree theft, public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident at the south Kum & Go.
