WATERLOO – On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, Waterloo Police were dispatched to 720 Janney Avenue shortly before 3 pm on a report a man called Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch threatening suicide.
Responding Officers set up a perimeter around the residence and the Waterloo Police Tactical Unit was activated. After attempting to communicate with the individual the Tactical Team made entry into the residence. They located a male suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The male was identified as 63 year old Larry Dean Olmstead who was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Medical Examiner.
