Swaledale sidewalk replacement cost latest item to face town council

SWALEDALE – The Swaldedale town council wrestled with a decision on how to repair an experiment gone wrong.

Just a few years ago, the sidewalk in front of the Swaledale public library was replaced by a good-intentioned contractor, a source told NIT. This contractor had offered to replace that sidewalk for free if he could test a new construction method. The city took up the offer but that test turned out to be a failure, and now the sidewalk needs to be repaired again.

Now the city must replace the cracked and “slippery” surface and the bid is daunting. An estimate on the cost was not immediately available. The city is looking into funding sources and partnerships to help reduce the cost to town taxpayers.

Swaledale’s library is a very neat place. If you are looking for a destination for a bit of a ride about in your car or on your bike, check it out!
