VENTURA – A two-vehicle accident north of Ventura Wednesday afternoon sent four people to Mercy hospital.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2008 Chevy Impala driven by 18-year-old Rachael Mary Formanek of Clear Lake was westbound on 260th Street and failed to yield at a stop sign at Balsam Avenue. Formanek’s vehicle then struck a northbound 2004 GMC automobile on the passenger side front door, driven by 64-year-old Elaine Heesch of Forest City.
Hospitalized after the crash, with undisclosed injuries, were: Elaine Heesch and her passenger, 69-year-old Susan Heesch, who had to be extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital by Garner ambulance. Also injured were Rachael Formanek and her passenger, 18-year-old Taylor Jane Reising of Garner. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital by Clear Lake Ambulance. Formanek had to be extricated from her vehicle by mechanical means.
Both vehicles incurred about $10,000 in damages.
Formanek was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and failure to wear a seat belt.
