CHARLES CITY – A young Charles City man accused of a range of crimes over the past two years was arrested this past weekend on felony drug charges.
Jaiton Mangun, age 20, was arrested by Charles City police on Sunday, April 6 after 1 AM outside a bar at the 800 block of North Main Street. Mangun was wanted on an arrest warrant that had been issued March 27 after two felony D drug charges were brought by Charles City police. Mangun was also cited for underage possession of alcohol.
Mangun was taken to the Floyd County Jail, and was soon released pending an April 25 court hearing.
Last December, Mangun had charges dismissed of felony D willful injury, felony D conspiracy to commit a felony and aggravated misdemeanor tampering with a witness.
Earlier in 2013, Mangun was arrested by Charles City police for disorderly conduct following a disturbance at the 700 block of Allison Street. On August 26, 2013, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct – using abusing epithets and gestures and as ordered to pay $195 in fines and court costs. He did not yet make a payment on that balance.
