MASON CITY – Mason City police are aware of a number of forced entry burglaries in the city over the past days and weeks, but are not releasing many details.
The businesses, some located downtown, some on the west edge, others located in neighborhoods, seem to be restaurants and bars, and forced entry seems to have been used in some of the incidents. One source told NIT that it appeared that a crowbar was used in attempting to gain entry in at least four incidents. An unknown amount of valuables were taken at some locations, which are not being publicized at this time as police investigate.
Police said they would welcome any new reports or information that might lead to the apprehension of the culprit(s). Anyone with information should call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
