EMMETSBURG, IOWA – One elderly woman is dead and another is injured after a two car accident Tuesday just south of Emmetsburg.
According to a report, at about 10:42 AM Tuesday, 84-year-old Mary Catherine Gappa of Ayrshire, Iowa was traveling southbound on Highway 4 south of Emmetsburg near Highway B53 when another vehicle driven by 80-year-old Marvella Ann Hurley was traveling northbound in the southbound lane. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Both women were transported to Palo Alto Hospital in Emmetsburg. Gappa was later pronounced dead. Hurley was injured. Both women were using seat belts.
