UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – Iowa picked up another Big Ten victory Saturday on the road, traveling to Penn State and leaving with a 82-70 win.
Melsahn Basabe led Iowa (19-6, 8-4) with 16 points, Roy Devyn Marble scored 15, Aaron White 14 and Mike Gesell 13 in leading Iowa to its 8th conference victory of the season. Iowa now has a three-game road winning streak in the Big Ten.
Penn State (13-13, 4-9) lead 33-31 at the half as the game was tight until about 12 minutes to go n the game, as Iowa built a double-digit lead.
D.J. Newbill scored 22 points to lead Penn State. Iowa held star guard Tim Frazier to just 11.
The Hawkeyes blocked blocked ten shots in the game today. Iowa is now 13-0 when holding opponents to 70 points or less. Iowa’s six turnovers are the fewest Iowa has recorded in Big Ten play.
